It's that time of year again, time. Summer's over and now we're in for eight long months of winter. And, as a sun-loving man of summer, your first reaction might be to grab a bottle, lock the door, hunker down and pray for June.
Instead, make a break for the hills. It may be cold, but Aspen is the perfect winter retreat to actually take advantage of all winter has to offer -- the skiing, nightlife and shopping.

When you go, there are a few landmarks that are a must-see. Check out Little Nell, the only five-star hotel in Aspen known for it's star-studded clientele and superior service. And, the recently remodeled St. Regis that recently cranked up the luxury-factor to the tune of $37 million. This hotspot now boasts a 15,000-square-foot spa that comes complete with secluded aromatherapy caves, free-flowing Champagne and even an Oxygen Bar.

If it's shopping you want, be sure to take a stroll through Aspen's collection of exquisite boutiques and luxury retailers. Of course, it's fun to peruse through Prada and try to rationalize a $600 fleece pullover, but save your money and make your way to Hopkins Street where Aspen's celeb residents cast-off their wears to a few select consignment shops.

And, when it comes to dining, a couple high-points that deserve a nod are Eric's Bar and Genre Bistro. Both these hot-spots are ideal for the casual lunch or dinner. Eric's Bar has a metropolitan feel and is known for their pint-size cocktails, always served with double shots. Genre Bistro, on the other hand, is a bohemian-chic hangout and is the perfect place to spend a few hours and sample Aspen's local flavor.
