Jet Set: Coyote Moon Resort

When you hear the terms Gay Resort or Gay Spa, the first images that may come to mind may be of some raucous disco-fueled pool party, or worse, some tawdry, back-alley (clothing optional) bath house. But these days, a new wave of gay spas is staking its claim on a gay community that, over the past several years, has shown signs that it’s outgrowing its rebellious stage of endless partying and finally trading-in their 5-HTP for St. John’s Wort . Yes, it seems the tide may be turning and the gay community is looking to focus their attention on their inner calm, rather than all-night raves.

Coyote Moon Health Resort & Spa is the first of this new all-gay spa approach. Nestled in an Arizona mountain range, owner and former nurse Joe Studer drew form his medical background to launch this 30 acre, eco-friendly destination spa. His mission to invigorate all aspects of ones being - Mind, Body, and Spirit and focus on the individual needs and aspirations of each guest is apparent in his treatment menu. From mimosa bark and aloe body wraps to lemongrass, bamboo and carrot oil body scrubs―and with classes on yoga, Pilates, acupuncture and even hypnosis sessions, a guest a Coyote Moon will no doubt find a plethora of ways to find their center and re-align their Chi.

And best of all, with Chef Kelly Kimpton from, world the world renowned Miraval Spa heading-up the kitchen and creating all sorts of organic healthful cuisine, we may just find our inner six-pack along with our inner self.
