Freshen Up: Ecco

 When it comes to eating out in Atlanta, casual-chic dining seems to the new haute cuisine. High-end chefs throughout the city are taking their four-star pedigrees and opening up a host of relaxed eateries that serve up menu after menu of delectable dishes at budget-friendly prices. One stand-out example of this trend here in Atlanta is the stylish and always fresh eatery, Ecco.

Located in Midtown, Ecco was designed to be a stylish yet friendly and unpretentious refuge for all of looking to relax and enjoy some great European-inspired cuisine. Soft lighting engulfs the space and brings a casual elegance to the white-clothes tables. Dark leather chairs and an expansive banquette spans the entire length of the restaurant, give the space a decidedly approachable and more casual feel. 

As for the food, it’s fresh…really fresh. Talk to the chefs and they speak almost militantly about sourcing only the freshest ingredients for their dishes. This quickly becomes evident when you sit down and dig into an offering of charcuterie and fine cheese that alone could be made a meal all to itself. Signature dishes include fried goat cheese with honey and chitarra pasta du jour round out the best of a flawed, but fun, menu. Chances are, you’ll even be talked into an offering of grilled octopus or, dare we say, luscious sardines. Truly, worth the leap of “Fear Factor” faith.The wine list has deep options from old and new world selections, and the dining room staff is competent and informed; what they can’t answer they’ll find out.
