Out on the Town

New + Noteworthy > Happy Cakes

Here’s the thing. Like you, we’re not exactly fans of gimmicks. But, presumably also like you too, we love buttercream frosting, sprinkles and pretty much everything about those spongy little delicacies otherwise known as cupcakes.

Which is why we’re pretty excited about Happy Cakes, a new cupcake bakery that just opened up here in North Denver. Located on 32nd Ave in the Highlands, this gourmet spot offers an array of fresh baked and artfully finished cupcakes, all piled high with frosting, shavings, crumbles and a whole assortment of other toppings. As for the flavors, you’ll find quite a bit more
than just vanilla and chocolate. Owners Lisa, Laura and Sara wanted to offer something new and go after the more neo-traditionalist cupcake connoisseur, if you will. On the chalkboard behind the counter you can find a roster of more than 15 creative selections that change every day including, French Toast, Peanut Butter Cup and Orange Cranberry.

Then on Fridays, try out a whole menu of cocktail-inspired cakes like the Jack & Coke, the Cosmo and even a Lemon Drop. Seasonal flavors are offered too (right now it’s Gingerbread and Eggnog). They do box sets, all packaged up in spiffy little parcels, ideal for special events, cocktail parties, Bar Mitzvah, or maybe to just perk up a wake.

Happy Cakes…yup, it pretty much takes the cake (couldn’t resist).
